IMX 45 ”Temptress”
winner of Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Trophy
It was a lifelong dream coming true when Dr Richard Shulman and his crew won the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Trophy in the ORR division and finished second overall in the IRC division of the Newport Bermuda Race. Since the 1980’s, the “Temptress” team have been regular competitors in the race.

Dr Richard Shulman’s dream has become reality

A smiling Richard Shulman commented the race: “We knew we had a good shot at winning this race as soon as we saw the kind of weather we would have.” And he continued: “I have one of the greatest crews who have been sailing with me for many years, and we have a boat that is extremely fast in light airs.”

This year’s Newport Bermuda Race was a centenary race starting out with a 263-fleet; after sailing 635 miles in four days over 200 yachts reached the finish.
