1,587 boats took part in Britain's most famous and largest yacht race on Saturday 3rd June 2006, The JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, which started from Cowes on the Isle of Wight at approximately 06.30hrs and, despite light airs for the majority of the day, 735 boats completed the 50 mile course around the Isle of Wight before the 22.00hrs deadline.
X-43 Winner of Division 4A
X-43 “Doodle”, owned by Simon and Jonathan Barker and sailed by John Lawrence and Colin Fry, won their division in ISC group 4, and took home the Jimmie Read Memorial Cup.
X-35 Winner of Division 1C
In IRC Group 1, X-35 “Cool Runnings”, owned by Thorkild Juncker and sailed by Jochem Visser, celebrated their victory in both their Division 1C and overall in their group and took home the Vaphio Cup.
”Exactly” Winner of the X-332 Class
The winner of the X-332 class was “Exactly” owned by Christopher Taylor, who took home the X-Yacht Cup.
