68 X-Yachts now entered in the worlds biggest single-handed race – The Silverrudder Challenge of the Sea

On Friday 23rd September a 400 boat fleet will set off on the largest single handed race in the world, The Silverrudder Challenge of the Sea.

The race will see the fleet sail the 134NM around the island of Funen, starting and finishing in the beautiful harbor of Svendborg Sund.

With the race happening so close to the home of X-Yachts in Haderslev it isn’t surprising that every year X-Yachts make up a large percentage of the entry list and this year is no exception.

This year we have 68 X-Yachts, both old and new, taking part, and three members of the X-Yacht team John Morsing, Niels Ditmar and Jette Dalegaard.

X-Yachts have proved very popular over the years for short-handed racing not only due to their superb performance but also because of their good righting moments means they still perform well even without a large crew on the rail. They are also very well know for their well thought out deck set up which makes them easy to handle with a limited crew.

The results speak for themselves over recent years with X442 Xalsa, skippered by Knud Erik Hansen winning the XL Keelboat class last year and the Xc 42 Hokux Pokux, skippered by Niels Ditmar winning the XL keelboat class in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and winning the whole event overall in 2012

Good luck to all the competitors taking part in this year’s event and lets hope for another X-Yacht Win!!
