The Silverrudder 2017

Tuesday 26th September 2017

The Silverrudder™ – Challenge of the Sea – is an annual singlehanded boat race, which takes place at Autumn Equinox, starting up in Svendborg, Denmark. This year, the race started Friday, the 22nd September.

In 2012, the race was launched for the first time with 15 tough contestants. Since then, the number of entries has increased – this year counting 414 competitors. Although the competition is getting tougher, the challenge is still the same – 134 Nautic Miles around Funen. The race is categorized as the greatest non-stop singlehanded off shore category III race in the World.

This year, 130 skippers managed to complete the Silverrudder – crossing the finishing line before Sunday 12.00, where the race was over.

We want to praise everyone who took part in this event for their commitment and strength – and a special congratulation to the keel boat winner, the X-43 “Esbern Snarre” with Martin Meredin Petersen onboard.
