Saturday, 27 May 2017 — Monday, 29 May 2017

This is the preliminary notice for the XYOA Rally to be held on the second bank holiday weekend in May 2017.

Saturday 27 May

All yachts will meet at the popular Lymington Yacht Haven where berthing has been reserved for all participating X-Yachts.

Not surprisingly, Lymington Yacht Haven was voted Number 1 UK Coastal Marina of the Year 2016. There is 24-hour service and security, unlimited free Wi-Fi at all berths and top-class toilet and shower facilities. For early arrivals, there are pedal bikes and electric bikes for hire, and every yacht will receive a free Sunday newspaper!

There will be an early evening XYOA drinks reception in The Haven restaurant followed by a three-course dinner. The Haven has a magnificent reputation for serving an array of delicious local fresh fish and shellfish. It was immensely popular when we dined there two years ago and the partying after dinner went on into the early hours!

Sunday 28 May

All yachts will meet early afternoon at the Gunwharf Quays Marina where once again berthing has been reserved for all participating X-Yachts.

The marina is fantastically located beneath the Spinnaker Tower with walk-ashore access to the 90 designer outlet shops and the 30 restaurants, cafes and bars. The historic Naval Dockyard is adjacent with The Mary Rose Museum, HMS Warrior and HMS Victory. Subject to numbers, a private visit will be organised for members and their guests to one of these attractions.

The new aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, is due for sea trials early next year, and after a period of final fitting out and testing is due in Portsmouth in May 2017! The harbour entrance is currently being deepened to accommodate this enormous ship – with a bit of luck we should see her!

A three-course dinner in the evening will be served at the Royal Naval Club and Royal Albert Yacht Club, which is about a ten-minute walk from Gunwharf Quays Marina. This historic club was founded in 1867 for the exclusive use of Royal Naval Officers and today enjoy great views over Governor’s Green and The Solent whilst serving good freshly cooked food.

Bank Holiday Monday 29 May

X-Yachts are free to leave the marina in the morning at their leisure to return to their home ports.

The likely cost of the dinner in Lymington is XXX and the likely cost of the dinner in Portsmouth is XXX. Further details will be forwarded once the level of interest has been established.

Participants in the Rally are strongly requested to dine in the venues chosen and not independantly as the special prices agreed with the venues depend on large numbers

Owners, families and friends are all welcome to take part in this relaxed fun event.

Owners who are not able to sail their yachts in the Solent, are invited to still register their interest as there will be opportunities to sail on other X-Yachts owned boats.

Members who are unable to sail on yachts are also encouraged to come to both venues by plane, road or train.

There is a good choice of hotels and B & B’s in Lymington and Portsmouth for those not sleeping on their yachts.

Dress throughtout the weekend is informal, but smart casual for the Sunday night dinner in the yacht club

Please complete the attached form either and forward by email jm1.noe@gmail.com or post to John Noe so that we can obtain an early idea on likely numbers -
