The Xc 42 was launched in 2009, following the same philosophy as the Xc 45. The second yacht in the Xcruising range, offers no-compromise comfort and impressive pace combined with ease of handling.
Following extensive feedback from a large group of Xc owners, as well as our own experience over the last 10 years, 2019 will see the launch of the ‘X-Yachts 40 Years Anniversary’ edition of the Xc 42. The ‘Anniversary’ edition of the Xc 42 builds upon the success of the Xcruising range with an updated specification implementing improvements from feedback gathered from a fleet of over 300 Xc yachts worldwide.
From this edition of the Xc 42 and onwards, the Xc models are built using epoxy infusion in the hull. X-Yachts hulls are post-cured or “oven-baked” to improve structural properties of the composite. Epoxy resin has higher mechanical and thermal stability than traditional polyester resins. Added value to this production method is weight reduction.
Exterior upgrades include new optional jib self-tacker design, composite bowsprit and new colourways.
Interior upgrades include Nordic oak furniture and new upholstery types, cushion design and new interior fittings throughout.
Systems upgrade highlights include new tank displays showing remaining volume in litres and upgraded ambient lighting.

Her hull has proven capable and sea-kindly, good for covering the miles. But with her modern, muscular lines, she carries much of the performance DNA of the racier Xp line.
The Xc 42 offers true flexibility. The adaptable sail plan ensures superb pace on all angles, with options including an inner forestay (without runners). The Xc 42 may fly either a 140% overlapping genoa or smaller 108% genoa, an integrated 90% self-tacking jib, or asymmetric spinnaker, for relaxing sailing on long bluewater passages and short stopovers, sailing with two crew or a full complement of guests.
Sail area may be easily adjusted thanks to a furling forestay and slab-reefing mainsail, or optional in-boom furling. Anchoring and mooring are also stress-free, thanks to a bow thruster, electric windlass, large bow locker, and optional stern davits for a tender.
The exterior of the Xc 42 also benefits from some updates for 2019, including optional teak or Flexiteek on the side decks, as well as new hull and canvas colour choices.
