X-40

A fast Cruiser
The X-40 belongs to the new generation of X-Yachts “Performance Cruisers”, and will be complementary to the latest X-Yachts design range. She is built to follow recent trendsetters, the X-43 and X-46 both introduced to the market in 2003. Not only will her new owners obtain a sailing pleasure similar to the high performance racer IMX-40, they will also have a yacht with high interior quality and appointment, coupled with ease of handling specifically developed for the comfort of the cruising family.

The design and engineering applied is synonymous with X-Yachts renowned standards, sandwich construction, composite keel with low CGF and teak interior. The yacht is available in a classic 2 or 3 cabin layout, and feature much of the standard equipment from her larger sisters, such as deck recessed furling drum, spray hood, deck recessed main sheet system, a teak laid cockpit floor, teak coamings, teak seats, and bathing platform. The photos may show details, which are not included in the standard specification.

The all new X-40 sails as a dream
The X-40 was launched in Haderslev on Thursday 1 April 2004, and she already lives up to her expectations as a fast cruiser. The blue X-40, No 1 is a Classic version with teak deck sold to X-Yachts’ dealer Otto Backe in Norway.

She was tested at the coasts outside Haderslev by Lars Jeppesen and an X-Yachts’ crew – among them naval architect Thomas Mielec from X-Yachts’ Design Group. A south easterly wind blew 20 knots and allowed X-Yachts’ crew to really test the new X-40 performance cruiser.

Back in the marina Lars Jeppesen gave a report about his first experience at the helm: “She is like her bigger sisters, the X-43 and X-46. She moves extremely well balanced through the water even with considerable mainail pressure, and with her very direct feeling on the rudder she is easily handled. After a tack her acceleration is fast and she is quickly back in the groove at full speed. The mast section, a new design from John Mast, is very stiff and stable. All in all she showed a similar sailing pleasure as the high performance racer IMX 40”.
