One route. One adventure. One experience of a lifetime.

You can now sign up for the Garmin Round Denmark Race 2026, which will take place from 23 July to 1 August 2026.

680 nautical miles around Denmark – an adventure where both sailor and boat are put to the test through Denmark’s most beautiful and most challenging waters.
As always, the start is in Aarhus, after which the fleet rounds Skagen, sails down through the Kattegat and Øresund, continues around Bornholm and Christiansø, past Gedser, up through the South Funen Archipelago to the Little Belt – and back to Aarhus.

For both adventurers and performance sailors

The Garmin Round Denmark Race can be sailed singlehanded, doublehanded or fully crewed. Here, sailors seeking adventure meet those chasing speed – and the race makes room for both.

GRDR isn’t just about sailing fast – it’s about the adventure, the community, and the fascination of exploring Denmark from the sea

- says Event Manager, Søren Ilsø Mahneke.

X-Yachts on an adventure — strength, speed, and trust on the open sea

Among previous participants are several who sail under the X-Yachts flag – sailors who take pride in challenging themselves and their boats.
Lasse, who has sailed his faithful X-99 for over eight years, describes his participation like this:

I learned that Voxeværk (the boat) and I are not too old yet.

For Lasse, it’s not just about competition, but about the feeling of being one with the boat – and experiencing how the quality and design from X-Yachts still perform under pressure.

Another experienced sailor, Rikard Roth, has with his XP-44 XAR demonstrated what reliability and performance mean in a race like the Garmin Round Denmark Race:

The boat worked perfectly all the way. The only challenge was that the mainsheet traveller broke near Nexø, but we managed to repair it in calm weather.

With over 24,000 nautical miles logged and decades of experience, Rikard describes his trust in X-Yachts:

X-Yachts are extremely reliable. You can push them hard without it feeling dangerous. They sail fast, are comfortable, and built to last.

The GRDR community

To enhance the experience, GRDR also places great emphasis on participants communicating, sharing experiences, and celebrating highlights with one another along the way.

We’ve realised how much the social aspect of the race means to participants, even when there are hundreds of miles between the boats. We’re quite convinced that sharing the big and small victories along the way helps create an amazing community before, during, and after the race – and significantly enhances each sailor’s journey.

- Søren continues.

The evening before the starting signal is given, there will be a large communal dinner at the Aarhus International Sailing Center.
