Formula X Receives the Jury’s Special Award 2025 from the Danish Sailing Federation
The Formula X crew was honored this weekend with the Danish Sailing Federation’s Jury’s Special Award 2025 – a distinction reserved for truly exceptional achievements in Danish sailing.
The award was presented by jury member Jan Hansen, who highlighted the team’s uncompromising work ethic, clear ambitions, and a season that “stands as a beacon in Danish keelboat sailing.”
A Season of Absolute Excellence
From the very beginning of the design phase of the new XR 41 – Formula X, the goal was crystal clear:
The boat and the crew were aiming to win the ORC World Championship.
And they delivered.
Throughout the season, the team won every major event they entered – including Maior Regatta, X-Gold Cup, Sjælland Rundt, and Kieler Woche – before ultimately securing the World Championship title in Tallinn.
The Jury’s Special Award recognizes precisely this combination of professionalism, teamwork, dedication, and the ability to set ambitious goals – and hit them.
From the Motivation Speech
During the award ceremony, Jan Hansen said:
The crew worked hard and uncompromisingly to optimise everything – the boat, the rig, the electronics, the sails, and the boat handling. Everything was fine-tuned, tested, and adjusted.
We’re talking about 10–11 people who need to perform as one. That requires training, strength, endurance – and above all: trust and synergy.
Throughout the year they won everything they competed in – and they crowned the season with the World Championship title.
You believed in it from the beginning – and you did it.
The award was received by skipper Jesper Radich, crew member Gustav Schwennesen and representatives from X-Yachts. The prize also included a magnum bottle of champagne – a fitting celebration of a historic season.
