Silver Success for Formula X at the 2026 ORC Double‑Handed European Championship
The 40th edition of the legendary 200 Millas A2 in Altea delivered demanding offshore racing, shifting Mediterranean weather, and a fiercely competitive international fleet. Among the standout performers was Formula X (XR 41)—the former 2025 ORC World Champion—recently sold to Spain and now proudly racing under new ownership.
Sailed by Rodrigo Sanz and David Madrazo, Formula X secured an impressive silver medal at the 2026 ORC Double‑Handed European Championship, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most competitive yachts in the offshore arena.
A Strong Result in a Highly Tactical Championship
This year’s championship unfolded over two challenging races: a 37‑mile short offshore race, and the iconic 200‑mile long offshore race around Ibiza and Formentera.
With heavy rain at the long‑race start, light patches mid‑course, and a rapid final run toward the finish, teams faced conditions that demanded endurance, smart routing, and deep offshore experience.
In this complex environment, Formula X showed exceptional consistency—hallmark performance for a boat already proven on the world stage.
X-Yachts Spanish Dealer on the Podium
A highlight for the entire X‑Yachts family:
Rodrigo Sanz, co‑skipper of Formula X, is also one of our official X‑Yachts dealers in Spain.
His second‑place finish is not only a sporting achievement but a celebration of X‑Yachts expertise both on and off the water.
A Proud Moment for the X‑Yachts Community
We are immensely proud to see Formula X—an XR 41 with a world‑championship pedigree—continue to excel at the highest levels of offshore racing. Its success in Altea adds another remarkable chapter to the yacht’s story, now carried forward by a talented team deeply connected to the X‑Yachts network.
