In 1981, the second X-Yachts model was launched and it was a true racer. The X-102 was designed for IOR’s ¾ Ton upper rating limit of 24.55 ft.
In 1981 the X-102 hull no. 7, “Soldier Blue” won the ¾ Ton World Championship in Helsinki. “Soldier Blue” was skippered by Ib Ussing Andersen, helmed by Jens Christensen and with tactics by Lars Bo Ive.
In 1982, Ib Ussing Andersen repeated the success and won the same title in Denia in Spain, with the X-102 “Lille Du”. The boat was named after a song by Denmark’s best known pop and rock act, Kim Larsen. This win gave X-Yachts a head start in the international yachting arena.
173 X-102 were built in between the years of 1981 and 1987.
