Yachting Monthly’s Theo Stocker stepped aboard the mighty Xc 47 for a full day of testing in the Solent, producing both a video review and an in‑depth written article.
Conditions on the day were exceptionally light – barely a whisper of breeze across the central Solent – yet this proved to be the perfect environment to showcase what sets the Xc 47 apart. Even in the faintest zephyrs she moves with the eagerness and precision of a much lighter yacht, converting the smallest puffs into effortless acceleration.
As Stocker notes in his review,
“Whatever puffs met the boat were rapidly converted into acceleration… a powerful rig and a slippery hull kept the boat sailing in very light airs.”
This is the hallmark of X‑Yachts’ design DNA: a hull that is beautifully balanced, easily driven, and rewarding to helm, even when the wind refuses to cooperate.
We are deeply grateful to the owner of Silver Fox for making her available for the day. Her immaculate presentation and thoughtful specification provided the ideal platform for Yachting Monthly to experience the Xc 47 as she is meant to be sailed.
Paul Wyeth for all photography and videography.
