We are extremely disappointed to be selling Excalibur. From our first sail on the East Coast through to cruising the South Coast, she has given us immense enjoyment and comfort. What surprised us most was how wrong the assumption can be that an “Xc” is simply a cruiser or a de‑tuned X4.3. Absolutely not. Excalibur is fast, sharp, and remarkably sure‑footed — her pointing ability is genuinely astonishing.

Upgrading to North 3Di sails transformed her again, adding another level of performance, and the Furlerboom has been a brilliant addition for shorthanded sailing. Ask Stuart or Julian to demonstrate the system; it is impressively simple to operate.

We have always had Excalibur serviced, maintained, and winterised by X‑Yachts, ensuring she remains a first‑class sailing yacht in every respect.

Regretfully, we are bringing this exceptional Xc 42 to market due to limited use caused by family and business commitments. Excalibur is like a thoroughbred — she deserves to be sailed more often than we can manage now or in the future. She has been my dream boat, and it will be sad to see her leave the family, but her next owners will inherit an outstanding yacht: safe, capable, and rewarding in all conditions.

Exterior Details

Hull

• Xc 42 3-cabin version
• The Xc 42 is built to comply with the requirements specified by the European Union’s Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) to meet Design Category A – ‘Ocean’.
• The hull is a full polyester resin/sandwich construction using vinylester resin system in outer skin layer, foam core with biaxial E-glass skins and local uni-directional Solid, monolithic laminate is used in areas around the keel structure, rudder stock bearing, around each through hull fitting, sail drive, and thruster
• ***Coppercoat applied in 2024.

Deck

• The deck is a hand lay-up, full sandwich construction. The foam provides strength and insulation.
• Teak on cockpit and swim platform, side decks and coach roof top

Engine

• Volvo Penta D2-55 4-cylinder, direct injection diesel engine. Maximum power output is 41 kW (55 hp) at 3000 rpm.

• The engine is fitted with a 12V / 115A alternator for charging the engine start and domestic batteries.
• A 3-blade Ø 18” Flex-o-fold folding propeller with sacrificial zinc anode
• Engine Hours: 112.7 Displayed Hours - correct August 2026. (Old original unit replaced at approx 700hrs)
• Fuel is stored in a custom-built aluminium tank, located below port aft cabin berth. The tank is fitted with an inspection hatch, baffles, deck filler, breather and gauge. Total fuel capacity is 250 litres

Plumbing

• Fresh water is stored in 5 custom-built stainless steel tanks, located below the main cabin floor boards. Each tank is fitted with inspection hatches, baffles, deck filler, breather and gauge. Total water capacity is 520 litres
• A pressurised hot and cold water system is used throughout the boat
• Seagull water filter
• A 30 litre calorifier is situated in the engine room. Water can be heated using the engine, or with the 240V immersion heater when connected to shore power
• Heating system - Eberspächer D5 with 6 outlets in saloon, cabins and aft & fwd head
