We bought Tean new in 2012 and set her up for fast, safe, easily handled short‑handed cruising. She has recently had major service items replaced or serviced, has been upgraded throughout, and is in exceptional condition. She has cruised from Hamble to Shetland and Galicia, and has never been raced.
She is a unique Xp 50 with the factory heavier keel bulb and newest‑generation rudder, giving excellent stability and fast passage‑making. We regularly average over 8 knots, and the carbon rig keeps her moving in very light airs.
Sail handling is simple: two standard reefs plus a deep third reef, all lines led aft, and a permanently hanked inner jib with sheets always rigged. The large bow sail locker allows Code 0 or asymmetric hoisting directly from the locker. Additional chafe protection, cockpit jackstays, pole‑mounted radar and a dedicated preventer line all add to safety and ease of use.
For extended cruising, removable solar panels and a Watt&Sea hydrogenerator meet electrical needs. She carries 75m of stainless chain for deeper anchorages, and the large aft garage easily stores a 3.4m dinghy, bikes and watersports gear.
To keep maintenance simple, she has only one electric winch, no generator or watermaker, and no teak side decks. She has always been kept under a full cover when not in use, preserving the teak and topsides — many still assume she is a new boat.
We’ve enjoyed 14 years of fast, comfortable summer cruising, often for 1–3 months at a time. She accommodates four guests easily, or up to eight for a weekend. Our priorities have now shifted, and Tean is ready for her next adventure with a new owner.
