The Garmin ORC World Championship 2025 is officially underway in Tallinn, Estonia, with a powerful and international fleet lining up to compete for offshore sailing’s most prestigious title. Sunday will bring a practice race before the long offshore race will open the World Championship on Monday.

Hosted by Kalev Yacht Club, this year’s event marks a celebrated return to the Baltic, where Tallinn also proudly holds the title of European Capital of Sport 2025.

Global Talent Meets Baltic Challenges

This year’s Class B fleet features competitors from 10 countries, with teams hailing from across Northern and Central Europe, including Estonia, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland. Class C features six crews from Lithuania, Finland and Estonia.

The race conditions on the Baltic Sea are expected to be as technical and tactically demanding as ever—ideal for showcasing the performance pedigree and offshore versatility of the X-Yachts range.

A Spotlight on the XR 41

The ORC Worlds serves as a proving ground for the XR 41, with four hulls competing at the highest level. Designed as a dual-purpose racer-cruiser, the XR 41 is already turning heads in top regattas, and Tallinn is the perfect stage to demonstrate its capabilities under pressure.

Among the XR 41s is X-Yachts’ own favourite, Formula X, campaigned by the X-Racing Team, led by skipper Jesper Radich and tactician Jeppe Borch.

X-Yachts CEO Kræn B. Nielsen had initially planned to race with the team and sailed with them earlier in the season. However, due to an exceptionally busy schedule at this time of year, he has stepped back from the final lineup. In a statement to Bådmagasinet, Kræn shared:

It’s been part of the plan for a while—we knew this period would be busy, and the team is prepared to sail with 10 crew members

- Kræn explains, and continues:

It’s undoubtedly the highlight of the year, and I’d probably be lying if I said I wasn’t excited—it means a lot, not just to the sailors, but to the entire X-team, including the designers and everyone who’s worked hard to make the XR 41 what it is today.

- Kræn ends.

The fact that X-Yachts is sending a dedicated service team, including a trailer loaded with spare parts, is a testament to the brand’s commitment and readiness to go the extra mile when it matters most.
