XR 41 – IRC Version Hits the Water
We’re excited to announce that the IRC-optimized XR 41 has officially been launched and completed its first rounds of testing.
With the newly issued IRC numbers, the results are clear: this update represents a performance-driven evolution of the XR 41, delivering increased stability and noticeably stronger upwind and reaching capability—particularly in breeze, thanks to the IRC-specific keel and rudder package.
The boat’s signature downwind remains unchanged, evidenced by a top recorded speed of 24.2 knots at the recent ORC World Championship.
The design team has refined the keel, rudder, and sail plan specifically for IRC optimisation. Based on the current displacement of 7,337 kg, the certificate points to further gains ahead, targeting approximately 7,200 kg and an IRC rating of 1.160.
X-Yachts Naval Architect Tobias Merkel summed up the experience in five quick questions – See video from Tobias below.
