The XR 41 - bringing racing DNA and cruising comfort into perfect balance

From regatta podiums to relaxed weekend getaways, the XR 41 brings together cutting-edge race performance and refined cruising comfort. Built for both worlds, it’s ready for whatever kind of sailing you have in mind.

What began as a bold design vision is now a reality on the water. Launching officially in January 2025, the XR 41 is more than just a new model — it’s a statement of intent from X-Yachts: precision engineering, race-winning pedigree, and smart versatility, all in one remarkable yacht.

The XR 41’s standard platform is designed for flexibility. Choose the interior layout that suits your sailing lifestyle — then configure the boat as either a Sport or Race version. And the best part? You can switch between the two with ease, adapting the boat to your ambitions, whether it's a high-stakes regatta or a long weekend at sea.

A return to X-Yachts Racing Roots

The XR 41 marks a bold return to X-Yachts’ 45-year legacy of racing excellence.
With decades of championship-winning designs behind us, we’re once again leading the way in performance innovation. Built for both ORC and IRC competition, the XR 41 sets a new benchmark for dual-purpose race yachts.

Developed in close collaboration with some of the world’s most accomplished sailors and technical partners, the XR 41 is the first model in our new XRacing Range — a product of teamwork between elite racing minds and the X-Yachts in-house design team.

Designing race winners is in our DNA. From the Xp 44 and X-41 to the IMX 38, IMX 40, and IMX 45, X-Yachts has long defined performance under rating rules — and many of those boats still dominate race courses today. Like its predecessors, the XR 41 carries this proven pedigree, but with a twist: a touch of cruising comfort and versatility for the modern, performance-oriented sailor.

A Racer Built for Longevity

Traditionally, raw racing boats have a short lifespan and tend to lose value within a few years. With the XR 41, we set out to break that cycle. Guided by our core philosophy of building yachts to last, we designed the XR 41 to combine durability, adaptability, and lasting value.

This is a boat built to perform at the highest level — and to remain relevant for years to come.

More than just a race winner, the XR 41 is also a fast, family-friendly cruiser. While the hull shape remains constant, nearly every other performance element can be tailored: keel, rig, sail plan, rudder, displacement, and more. This level of adjustability gives owners the freedom to optimise for ORC, IRC, doublehanded sailing — or simply for their own style.

The result? A high-performance yacht that’s anything but one-dimensional.

Dual Purpose

Dual Purpose

The XR 41 is available in two distinct configurations — Race and Sport — each designed to suit different styles of sailing without compromising on performance.

The Race version features a square-top mainsail, split backstay, and a larger sail area, tailored for full-crew competitive sailing. The Sport version, by contrast, comes with a pinhead mainsail, single backstay, and a slightly reduced sail plan, offering easier handling and greater simplicity — ideal for short-handed or family sailing.

Keel options include various drafts, with 2.40 m as standard, allowing owners to optimise performance and sailing area. The sail plan is built around asymmetrical downwind sails, flown from a relatively long bowsprit, delivering strong performance and control under pressure.

THE STERN IS FAIRLY V-SHAPED

The XR 41 has a hull with shallow volume, not much rocker, volume quite evenly distributed longships and with quite a bit of overhang, especially at the bow. The stern is fairly V-shaped, with the centerline barely touching the water surface.

The hull is really wide for a 12-metre boat: The maximum beam is 4.18 meters. The boat has a moderate draft of 2.4 m. which allows for racing in almost any waters.

ORC CATEGORY B

The strategy has been to focus specifically on ORC category B, and to position the boat in the fastest end of that fleet.

It’s very important to get a free lane right off the start line, and to achieve that, you need to be one of the fastest boats upwind in the category.

Choose Your Mode :  Race or Sport

To support its dual-purpose versatility, the XR 41 features modular interior components that can be removed or reinstalled with ease. Key cruising elements — such as sections of the galley or lockers in the forward and aft cabins — can be quickly taken out for race mode and put back in for cruising comfort.

The XR 41 - Race Mode

With the XR 41 you can optimize your yacht for peak performance. Starting with a highly adaptable standard platform, you can configure the boat with a range of removable options and high-performance upgrades — designed to give you the edge on the racecourse.

Performance Highlights (Race version):

- Square-top mainsail with running backstays for maximum power and control
- 2.6 m bowsprit, carbon rig, and racing keel for lightweight strength and optimal trim
- Modular lightweight interior to reduce displacement while remaining convertible for cruising
- Push-button sail trimming and advanced performance electronics for smart, responsive sailing

Whether you’re targeting ORC, IRC, or custom offshore campaigns, the XR 41 provides the tools to build your ideal setup — and the platform to win.

We set out to design the XR 41 with a clear focus on durability and versatility, staying true to our philosophy of building X-Yachts to last for decades.

The XR 41 is built to excel in competitive racing, with key performance elements — including the keel, sail plan, rigging, rudder, and displacement — designed to be adjustable and adaptable.

When it came to the hull, we made a deliberate choice to allow for flexibility within the measurement limits. Designing a hull right at the edge of current regulations could pose a risk of non-compliance as rating standards evolve over time. By building in this margin, we ensure long-term competitiveness and peace of mind for owners.

To support its dual-purpose nature, the XR 41 features modular interior components that can be removed for racing and reinstalled for cruising. For example, parts of the galley, along with lockers in the aft and forward cabins, are easily interchangeable. The deck layout is optimised for full-crew racing, yet equally well-suited for shorthanded or even singlehanded sailing.

The XR 41 - Sport Mode

The XR 41 Sport is ideal for sailors who value comfort, ease of handling, and a more forgiving sailing experience — without compromising on speed or excitement. Whether you're out for a weekend cruise, a relaxed family holiday, or casual club racing, the Sport version adapts to your lifestyle with smart, sailor-friendly features.

Key features of the XR 41 Sport:

- Single backstay and pinhead mainsail Easier to trim and handle — even with a smaller crew or when sailing solo or doublehanded.
- Shorter bowspritm (1 meter shorter than the Race version) Makes harbor maneuvers and sail handling simpler, especially in tight spaces.
- Optional 455 kg keel ballast Enhances stability and delivers a smoother, more balanced ride — like having seven extra crew on the rail, without the logistics!

All the performance you need, with the comfort and flexibility to suit your sailing lifestyle — that’s the essence of the XR 41 Sport.

The XR 41 - Sport Mode

The interior of the XR 41 Sport is thoughtfully designed to combine comfort, style, and practicality, making life onboard as enjoyable as it is effortless.
Beautifully crafted living spaces featuring a well-equipped galley, bathroom, generous lockers, soft cushions, and signature X-Yachts furnishings.

Optional upgrades include heating, hot water, an anchor system — and yes, even an air fryer — for those perfect moments at anchor.

A wireless remote-controlled anchor system adds next-level convenience at the push of a button.
With the XR 41 Sport, you get a yacht that’s fast, fun, and remarkably easy to sail — with all the comfort you need to make every journey unforgettable.
