eXciter Claims Offshore Championship Title at Kieler Woche
XR 41 eXciter, skippered by Jens Kuphal of Berlin, delivered a standout performance at the 2025 International German Offshore Championship (IDM), held during Kieler Woche.
29 June 2025 – Kiel, Germany
With victories in both the Aalregatta and the demanding overnight Silbernes Band race, eXciter secured the overall title in the ORC A/B class — underlining the XR 41’s offshore pedigree.
The championship was contested in two parts: a coastal race on June 21 and the long-distance offshore race on June 27–28, tracing a challenging course from Kiel around the Danish island of Langeland and back. Strong winds persisted throughout the night during Silbernes Band, pushing crews to their limits.
“Our trump card was a reefed mainsail,” said skipper Jens Kuphal. “It allowed us to keep the boat fast and stable when others struggled. More than 20 gybes in the dark required full concentration — but the team was sharp from start to finish.”
After more than 16 hours on the water, eXciter crossed the line with a commanding lead of over 76 minutes on corrected time ahead of the Sinergia 40 Sons of Hurricanes (Norway). XP-44 Surprise completed the podium.
The result confirms the XR 41’s position at the top of the offshore scene — combining precision, power, and control in one refined package.
With Kieler Woche now behind them, the eXciter team sets their sights on the 2025 ORC World Championship in Tallinn, Estonia.
X-Yachts congratulates Jens Kuphal and the entire crew of eXciter on an outstanding performance.
