Finishing the Rolex Sydney Hobart race onboard an Xp 44!

The Rolex Sydney Hobart is a 628 nautical mile yacht race, described as one of the most gruelling ocean races in the world. The annual race begins in Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day and finishes in Hobart.

In the 2023 edition, the Xp 44 XS Moment participated in the race – Skippered by Ray Hudson and his crew. XS Moment debuted in the 2017 Rolex Sydney Hobart and is a regular competitor in both their home Club’s Blue Water Series at The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, as well as the CYCA’s Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore.

Ray says, “It was a tough race, but the Xp 44 performed flawlessly – 54 knots and bad seaway rounding Tasman Island, as shown in the photo below. We lost our instruments on the boat and eventually got the rear instruments and plotter back operating, but we had to disconnect the mast instruments. The yacht itself was amazing to race with!”

Congratulations to Ray and his crew on finishing the Rolex Sydney Hobart race!
